TROY'S ON THE PARK

This was where it all started for many of us- St. Louis' professionals in an urban scene in the historic neighborhood of Lafayette Square. Some say this spot was ahead of its time, a drinking hole reminiscent of what you might find in a thriving big city. It was one room with 17 tables and a half round stage that created the perfect atmosphere of sophisticated noise for mature drinking amongst peers. Live jazz was the backdrop, potent martinis were acclaimed, and Wednesday nights introduced spoken poetry to the local scene. Within those walls class was boss, a secret society of underground tempo lovers that kept this quant martini headquarters to themselves. The regulars were proud to claim Troy's on the Park as their own. That was 1999.

These doors opened with the intent to offer St. Louis a new type of entertainment, a unique space with an edge. Far from the cookie cutter bar or tavern, Troy's had elegance with attitude and used music as a movement. This small eclectic establishment introduced and opened the doors for several entertainers that work amongst the local social music scene. Many artists got a start at Troy's on the Park from the ultra-groove band The Usual Suspects to Dj Needles, from The Syd Rodway Quartet to the funny poetry host Doug James. From then to now, several entertainers, musicians, poets and speakers have graced the mini stage. Now it's time for a new experience.
